POSTCARD
The St. Paul Food Truck Festival surrounding Mears Park was a feast for sketchers. With colorful trucks at every curb and people lined up to sample the mobile Minnesota cuisine, our Twin Cities Urban Sketchers group enjoyed capturing (and tasting) the event in the heat of August.
This sketch was completed in 2019 using a brush with diluted India ink. A challenge to control, India ink dries quickly, doesn’t bleed when re-wetted, and really forces a focus on negative space. Sketches like this one may appear abstract at first glance. But look closely and the crowd comes into view.
